melrose is a crazy place. i'm literally surrounded by drug and alcohol abusers. there's no work ethic here, people just do what they wanna do. sure, it has it's entertaining days... but some days, it's just not worth it.

i can't wait for the day to work with normal people. at least semi-normal. lol :)

oh melrose, how i love thee. today, i had two bums come in and roamed the store. crazy people on the street screaming at themselves. people across the street dressed like street walkers. i'm going out of my mind!

on the brighter side of things, i've been working with Qwes Kross who's on Akon's Konvict Muzic label. There's a chance I'll be going to South Korea with them in October. Keeping my fingers crossed!!

it's been too long since i last blogged. a lot of things have happened since the last time. i had a car situation and was forced to get a new one. i moved to an amazing apartment in silverlake with the coolest roommate, april. i now work monday-friday, so i have weekends off! i'm broke as hell though... because the whole car situation is not working in my favor... but at least i still have a job. :)

i know i said i was supposed to have internet last week but it didn't happen because, guess what?? there was no telephone line to hook up for the DSL. just fabulous... my loft is crap. so i haven't been able to blog as much as i'd like. but my roommate Ane says that the neighbors are letting us use their wifi until we get our line hooked up, so hopefully that'll happen soon.

i'm in san diego right now vegin' out at my cousins place which is actually in santee. did you know that santee is one of the meth lab capitols of the world?? this is one hick of a town i tell ya... as i walked down the street to the main street to get me some coffee, almost every house i walked by had a huge truck or a trailer or both. there are still some "clan" people who live here. you know... white superiority.

anyway, calix is gonna take me in to town where the normal people are and we're gonna grub on some greasy and meaty pan pizza. she says it's supposed to be amazing... i'll be the judge of that!

i can't wait to have internet at the loft. it's been pretty rough having to go to coffee shops. it's so inconvenient. hopefully the time warner guy gives me the OK this week to get internet at the loft, or else i'm gonna go crazy!

anywho, last night i get to the loft and i totally forgot that Ané was having his monthly event there, Autimatico. I would say it was a success. Pretty much a full house. :) Hopefully I'll get pics from his camera soon so I can post them. For a Spanish event, the music is pretty darn good, I can't deny my love for Electro Pop... even if it's in Spanish. I hope the next one will be a bigger success. I had lots of fun and hope that more of my friends can join next time. I did have a friend from NYC, Marc Spaulding, that was in town stop by. He's doing the musical version of dreamgirls in costa mesa. Soooo, on my next day off, friday, I'm gonna go see it. I can't wait! I don't think I've actually ever been to a musical. I guess there's a first for everything.

I've been trying to expose the more artistic side of myself. I've been working on some graphics for my work's website and i've been writing poems here and there... when i like one enough i'll post it up. i need feedback! i'm really thankful of all the people that have supported me and continue to support me in all my endeavors. i can live my life motivating myself, but knowing that other people care make such a big difference.

it's been awhile...

i haven't had internet so i haven't been able to blog. :( i'm currently stealing internet from a nearby source! the loft is coming along... i have a nice bedframe, we're slowly bringing furniture in. all we are waiting on, still... is our water heater. hopefully by the time i get back from san francisco on friday i'll have a nice hot shower to come home to. otherwise i'll still be crashing at Ané's place.

the new store ASH is almost ready. just a couple more weeks!! we've got a lot of new lines that are cleaner, brighter and more technical. moods of norway is my fav! i'll keep everyone posted.

i'm putting together two chest of drawers by myself and i decided to take a break because my little girly girl hands hurt like a muhfuh. :(

so irritated that the loft was supposed to be done on april 1st and it's now the 9th. the plumbing is supposedly going to be done by tonight. i'm crossing my fingers. i'm tired of crashing at ané's place. i wanna sleep on my own bed, not someone else's couch. on the brighter side of things, two of the breezies that were supposed to move in bailed out so i am getting a bigger room now. woo hoo! ané said that he would paint the walls for me and once again paint my one special wall pink. i would really like for it to be done today so i can move my crap over there.

also, i went to gold's gym today with my friend glenn. ohhhh i LOVE it there. i love how all the cardio machines have their own t.v. screens with cable. it's AMAZING. so i've decided to switch from LA fitness to GOLD's... cause... I LOVE GOLD!! haha that's it for now, back to hurting my little hands.

LIFEwithBIRD is the story of Nicholas Van Messner and Bridget (bird) McCall.

i can't help but love. i love the feeling i get when i see a text message from that special person on my phone. or when i get to be next to them and cuddle all night. i love the feeling of being safe in their arms and knowing he likes me just as much as i like him. the only problem is i haven't had that feeling in SOOO long. just young honest love. i miss it. i want it. and LA is not exactly the easiest place to find a good man or good woman for that matter. my life is full of so much happiness but i still feel empty. i guess all i can do is patiently wait.

true loft living

we exposed some of the brick to give the walls more character. mine happened to turn out looking like an elephant. i'm going to paint my elephant a pastel green, but i'm taking suggestions. i've always wanted to have a pink wall and now i have it! ohhh such joy. now i need to get a couple dressers... a tv... and ané is going to build me a bed, then my room will pretty complete. the rest of the loft is still under some construction so until then i'm gonna have to crash at ané's place so i can shower!! big house warming party tba!

excitement, EXCITEMENT!!!

i just talked to ané and he said that my room is done!! and that the loft is looking really good. i'll probably see it tomorrow when i drop off my deposit, so look forward to new pics! he's going to surprise me with a designer color for one of my walls... i wonder what it will be?

trying to motivate myself to pack has been really difficult. i mostly just have clothes, but moving is just so dreadful. it'll be worth it though. i'm going to be able to explore the creativity that's ready to explode out of my veins! 3 more days... just 3 more days!

then on friday my cousin/sister calix is coming back from taiwan, FINALLY! we had some issues before she left but we've worked it out and i'm really happy that she's coming back. it's definitely going to be a weekend full of festivities with family. woo hoooo!

ok. time for me to stop effin around and get to packing. :(

some days are just really tough.

i have now worked 9 days in a row. if i worked with normal people i think i would be ok... but you know how there's always that one person that's so dumb and annoying and there's nothing you can do about it... i can only take so much until i have one of those days where i go insane. yesterday was one of those days. mistake after mistake after mistake and if you tell them they made a mistake they take it so personal and then they have the nerve to throw an effin tantrum. work is work, don't be a baby about it just because we were once cool. i used to be friends with this person, but after realizing how dumb that person is... i can't even stand to be around them outside of work. i just feel disgusted. after work last night i just went home changed and went straight to bed. hopefully today is a better day.

ten months ago i moved into this really amazing 1920's apartment. everything was great i had an older guy roommate that smoked pot all day and is an art curator. however... he took up all the common area for his own personal usage and that was cool and everything but then he tried to say that i owed him money for household supplies. all the supplies i've ever purchased, i never once asked him to give me any money. i mean... if you're broke just tell me. don't make up excuses and tell me i OWE you money. so the other night we get into a huge argument and i curse him out. it's bad enough that i don't get to use the apartment but now you're telling me that i OWE you money?? pshhh after 10 months of putting up with your bullshit i'm outties. so this is the place i'll be moving into. my friend is building a loft in downtown. it used to be 4 retail spaces and he tore down the walls, building 4/5 rooms, going to have a small retail space in front, an art gallery and a lounge... i can't wait to show off pics of the finished product.

men in LA amuse the sh*t out of me!

a while back i met a really cute caramel colored football player. he was sweet, genuine, and just an all around good guy. well he told me right off the bat he wasn't interested in having a girlfriend at that time. we hung out a few times and well... i'm not going to waste my time on someone that is not ready for a real relationship. i was very much straight-forward with my feelings as well. i rejected him. so he texts me, and he texts me and he texts me some more... always asking to hang out. i think about 2 1/2 months had gone by and finally today he asked me to stop by after i went to the gym. i stopped by... said hello... and he asked me why i rejected him. WELL HELLO!!! i told you already. i'm not going to waste my time on someone that doesn't have time for a relationship. then he kept asking me over and over like he didn't get it. finally, i left. you boys out there... the thought of having a girlfriend is nice but none of you want to put the time and effort into having a relationship. everyone here is out for themselves, no one wants to take care of each other anymore. luckily, LA hasn't jaded me, at least not yet.

math for summer school it is...

i was talking to a good friend last night and we came to the conclusion that i should just drop this math class now and not waste anymore of my time. i mean really, if the students have to constantly correct the mistakes you make, then what's the point of teaching. i understand that some teachers play the role as the dummy to see if people are paying attention in class, but he's not one of them. i remember once i had a question and all he could say was, "don't you read the book?" well if i could just learn from the book why do i have to attend your class? so this morning i hopped online and dropped the class for a W. i'd rather have a W then a bad grade. i'll just have to take it again during summer school and hope that i'll be able to reuse my book. now all i have is micro economics and i can say that i am doing very well with that. school can't be rushed, i'll do it at my own pace... i've got so many other things going on right now that are more important.

the gorbals for lunch

i was down the street at rockstar jeans for work, and there it was... THE GORBALS, Ilan Hall's little baby. it's located at the historic alexandria hotel. so i stopped in and had a bacon cheeseburger and fries... $6. not bad at all for lunch. he had lykke li playing while i enjoyed my meal. it'll probably be really fun there tomorrow night during the downtown thursday art walk. maybe i should stop in and see what dinner is like. :)

oh math class, how i love thee

my professor is old, senile, and hard of hearing... today he was trying to solve a system of equations and kept making mistakes and tried to use two different methods and in the end he gave up on the problem and wasted 50 minutes of class... i hope i don't fail this class. :(

NEW ORLEANS | The Situation is on notice -- New Orleans' Republic nightclub has a new dress code posted at its entrance: "If it's on Jersey Shore, it won't get through the door."

The idea came to Nick Thomas, the club's director of programming, while watching the MTV show. "The whole thing is so funny because I was literally watching Jersey Shore in passing at 4 a.m. after being at Republic I thought, nothing would make me happier if not a single person dressed like this was in Republic. Then I thought, "Why can't that be the rule?" The club put a flier on its window at Mardi Gras and the dress code spread across Twitpix which led to a mention on NPR. "It's been well received because we have the best clientele, but I never thought the story would have this kind of national merit."

Specific brands mentioned include Affliction and Ed Hardy, but Thomas clarifies that, "The dress code isn't limited to those brands, those are just the most obvious of the Jersey Shore-esque attire." He includes "any other knock bedazzled tee shirts or hideous foil inks. The dress code isn't about the brands, but the people that wear those brands. If a big beefy guy, over worked out with way too much hair gel is copping an attitude at the door or anything within that realm, he's not getting through. Ultimately if the clientele in the club isn't starting fights or disrespecting women, everyone in the venue can have a good time."

Chaos seems to follow the Jersey Shore cast which hosted a recent Purim event in New York in which the ceiling fell in. Thomas says "I was unaware of that event, so the ban is definitely unrelated."

When asked if the staff could handle, say, a situation with Jersey Shore's resident brawler who goes by the name The Situation, Thomas was confident that Republic can, with a security staff of 10 and two always outside. "If the situation came by he would definately not get through the door. I'm not opening a floodgate to people trying to cause issues and see if we can handle it. Our security staff handles everything as passively as possible without creating fights. If the situation arises, they could take care of it." Literally and figuratively, I point out.

What if Snooki really wants to see Spoon, would she be bounced at their upcoming Republic show? "Absolutely, Thomas answers, "if Snooki is wearing anything that Snooki wears, the same Jersey Shore-esque clothing she is known for and rocking a pouf." He points out that "If Snooki has a life changing event and starts dressing like a normal human being, by all means - come and see Spoon."

My least question is whether the signature Jersey Shore fist pump in the air is part of the ban. "If someone is fist pumping in line on their way into the club, they would not be allowed in. But once inside intermittent fist pumps will be allowed. We just want a really high end clientele and feel this new dress code is great step in bringing them in."
